How to Pack for Moving House in North Tyneside

April 3, 2018

Moving house never gets easier and because it's one of the most stressful times of your life, Tyneside Self Storage are on hand to offer a guide: How to Pack for Moving House.

Fail to plan, plan to fail - or so they say.

OK, packing early is a complete no brainer but we all know that it's easier said than done. It's like Christmas shopping, every year you'll say it will be different, but every year you're doing a supermarket sweep around Eldon Square at 10.15am on Boxing Day.

When it comes to moving, packing early can save you tonnes of stress. Fantastic Removals suggest starting the process as early as two months before the big day!

Consider packing one box per day in the run up to completion.

Throw the stuff you don't need, pack the stuff you do and store everything else at a self storage facility.

Yes, we know this sounds easier said than done but it's amazing how many people will be driving to their new abode with an 80's fondue set on their lap.

We can't stress enough how moving house is the perfect time to have a complete sort out of your 'treasured' belongings.

When it comes to what you throw away and what you keep, you need to be RUTHLESS.

Hold a car boot sale or set yourself a target of how many bags you can give to charity. A tidy home is a tidy mind.

When it comes to seasonal goods like skis, sledges, Christmas Trees, BBQ's etc. the perfect solution is a self storage facility.

Tyneside Self Storage offer fantastic rates for residential customers - find out more here.

Box Clever

Hands up who has made the mistake of assuming that a stuffed-to-the-rafters moving box is a good thing.

Yep, you use less boxes but unless you're sporting the guns of Anthony Joshua, moving those bad boys around is going to be a bit of a mean feat.

You wouldn't put your tatties in the same bag as your 6 pints of milk at the Supermarket, would you?

Try and limit the weight to around 30lbs.

Label your boxes and try to keep them organised. Yes there will be margin for an anomaly. A colander in the bathroom box, for example, but by effectively labelling your moving boxes, you will be able to take the boxes directly to the correct location without having to get you carabiners and ropes out in your new hallway.
